Caring Gene Career Pathways Training (CPT) Update
Since January 2025, more than 2,400 people from 30 counties have enrolled in the Caring Gene® Career Pathways Training (CPT) Program, which covers tuition and books for those new to or advancing their careers in one of the approved healthcare, behavioral health, or social care titles.
Many are current frontline workers eager to pursue opportunities for growth in the industry, while others are new to the field—parents, mother/daughter duos, unpaid caregivers, and career changers seeking stability and purpose, and the chance to do the kind of work that makes a difference in the lives of others.
Over the next 12 months, these trained, motivated professionals will be ready to enter the workforce, and we need your help to give them the chance to step into high-needs roles in your organizations.
All Caring Gene® participants must complete a three-year service commitment at an approved service commitment site. Employers who complete the attestation process and are approved by New York State Department of Health may access this emerging pipeline of skilled candidates committed to serving our communities.
We encourage providers who have not yet attested to contact Alyse Buccina, provider partnership specialist, as soon as possible. All approved employers will be featured on our website, and have the chance to post job opportunities on a dashboard exclusively for Caring Gene® students.
Thank you for your continued partnership and commitment to strengthening the healthcare workforce in Upstate New York. Our progress reflects not only the determination of our participants, but also the support from IHA members and the dedication of the Caring Gene® team. Together, we’re addressing workforce challenges, opening doors to progress for people of all ages, and fortifying the healthcare systems our communities rely on every single day.
