Workplace Violence Prevention Forum

IHA held the first Workplace Violence Forum of 2026 on March 3, bringing together healthcare leaders to share updates, best practices, and ongoing challenges related to workplace violence prevention. Highlights from the forum include:

  • Legislative & Budget Update: Lauren Ford (Iroquois Healthcare Association) provided an overview of current advocacy efforts and pending legislation focused on workplace violence prevention.
  • Best Practices & Data Insights: Representatives from the Massachusetts Hospital Association—Kim Stevenson, Christi Clark, and Brendan Riley—shared their comprehensive, data-driven approach to healthcare safety, emphasizing multidisciplinary collaboration and robust data collection.
  • Ongoing Challenges & Progress: While funding and implementation details remain key challenges, the discussion highlighted positive momentum in legislative advocacy and cross-state knowledge sharing.

Upcoming Emergency Preparedness Event: CNY Integrated Health Emergency Management Summit

The CNY Health Emergency Preparedness Coalition will host a one-day Integrated Health Emergency Management Summit on June 23, bringing together healthcare, public health, EMS, and emergency management professionals to strengthen coordination, share practical lessons, and explore innovative, data-driven approaches to emergency preparedness and response across New York State.

The Summit will feature two focused tracks:

  • Community-wide emergency preparedness and coordination
  • Technology, innovation, and data-supported emergency management
