New York has been awarded $212 million through the federal Rural Health Transformation Program — and IHA members stand ready for the opportunity.
Nathan Littauer Hospital & Nursing Home and Ellis Medicine are among the providers across 47 rural counties exploring how to put these resources to work, from expanding integrated care networks and telehealth to growing the rural workforce and strengthening cybersecurity.
IHA President & CEO Kevin Kerwin told the Daily Gazette “This is an important program for us to be able to leverage.”
But Kevin was also direct about this funding not being a substitute for the billions in cuts New York hospitals face under H.R. 1. IHA is pushing for additional state investment to ensure access to care in our Upstate and rural communities: “We’ve got to get through those first initial years to be able to get something off the ground effectively.”
